Cancellation, Refund & Transfer Policy
Diasporian Experience Travel
We understand that plans can change. Because our Ghana trips require advance payments to hotels, transportation providers, event venues, and on-the-ground vendors, our cancellation policy is based on the trip start date and the timing of your cancellation.
1. Refunds
Cancellations made more than 6 months before the trip start date
- Eligible for a 75% refund of payments made (excluding non-refundable deposits, processing fees, and any third-party transaction costs).
Cancellations made within 6 months of the trip start date
- Non-refundable.
This is due to vendor contracts and advance payments already issued in Ghana.
2. Transfers & Credits (Within 6 Months)
If you cancel within 6 months of the trip start date, your payments are not refundable, but may be transferred in full face value in one of the following ways:
- Transfer 100% of your paid amount to a future planned Ghana trip with Diasporian Experience Travel, or
- Gift or transfer 100% of your paid amount to another traveler joining an eligible Diasporian Experience trip (subject to availability and approval).
Transfer credits must be used within 24 months of the original trip start date unless otherwise approved in writing.
3. Deposits
All deposits are non-refundable and secure your space, pricing, planning services, and vendor commitments. Deposits apply toward your total trip balance unless otherwise stated.
4. Add-Ons, Upgrades & Extended Stays
Payments for add-ons, upgrades, extensions, and premium experiences follow the same cancellation and transfer policy. Once these services are paid to our Ghana partners, they are typically non-refundable, but may qualify for transfer credit as outlined above.
5. No-Shows
Travelers who do not arrive for their trip without prior written cancellation are not eligible for refunds or transfers.
6. Force Majeure
Diasporian Experience Travel is not responsible for cancellations or disruptions caused by events beyond our control, including but not limited to weather events, airline disruptions, government actions, public health emergencies, or political conditions. In such cases, we will make reasonable efforts to offer credits or rescheduling options based on vendor policies.
7. Travel Insurance (Highly Recommended)
We strongly recommend that all travelers purchase comprehensive travel insurance at the time of booking. Travel insurance can help protect your investment in the event of:
- Medical emergencies
- Trip interruption / cancellation / change in plans
- Flight delays or missed connections
- Lost or delayed baggage
Travel insurance is obtained independently by the traveler and is not included in the trip package. Diasporian Experience Travel does not provide insurance coverage and is not responsible for claims or coverage decisions.
